The Mesothelioma Center at Asbestos.com (https://www.asbestos.com), is the industry leader for patient advocacy, searching for a Patient Advocate Intern to work closely with experienced patient advocates to develop strong communication, research, and problem-solving skills while maintaining a compassionate and professional approach to patient support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support experienced Patient Advocates in guiding patients to appropriate resources, including medical, financial, and legal assistance.
- Make outbound calls and enter detailed notes in Salesforce to maintain accurate records.
- Learn to document patient interactions accurately in internal systems while maintaining confidentiality.
- Develop knowledge of industry regulations, patient rights, and available support programs.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to build expertise in patient advocacy.
- Assist with outreach marketing and PR efforts, including managing LinkedIn profiles.
- Support the management team with routine operational tasks such as follow-up emails, spreadsheet management, and lead validation as directed.
- Participate in special projects or process improvement assignments as needed.
- Meet or exceed daily call attempt and response rate goals.
- Seek out new ways to improve lead follow-up.
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program related to healthcare, administration, business, or similar fields.
- Strong attention to detail, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn technology platforms such as Salesforce.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Agility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional and adept, with the ability to embrace technology and automation.
- Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and analyze tasks.
- Adept at taking direction and applying it with accuracy and innovation.
